It is his rebel DNA accompanied with his mature outlook and emotional strength of a father and a family man, which makes him one of the most exciting artists of his era. This album was really the first time that I took the creative process entirely in my own hands. I had formed a new band, The Triple Crown, after reuniting with an old friend Erik Deutsch, who plays keys in the band, and went into the studio, producing the album myself. We spent a month in the Magic Shop in Soho and came out with what I think is my most country record to date. I'm really proud of this record and the songs on it, as this was the first time that I wrote the entire record on an acoustic, made demos, and treated the songs as a blue print for The Triple Crown to interpret. says Jennings
The first single from the album The Deed and The Dollar was released on iTunes on December 20th, 2011 and is considered by Shooter to be the perfect love song. Waylon Albright Jennings was named after his famous father, the country star to whom labels such as “maverick” and “outlaw” were liberally stuck like Post-it notes on a Nashville dive bar’s fridge. He even got to play his dad in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line, but Shooter’s own maverick credentials veer far from any kind of honky-tonk hierarchy.
Shooter’s 33 now, the old man’s been dead for a decade and, on his seventh album, Jennings Jr raises the occasional shot glass to the family name (The Low Road, Mama It’s Just My Medicine), but for the most part he treads his own path. This is country music with its own 21st-century agenda, with an attitude and articulacy that is as much about urban plight as it is ornery back-porch folk.

In 2014 Shooter released "Don't Wait Up (for George)", an EP paying tribute to George Jones, and at the same time announced "Countach" his album comprised of songs composed or inspired by production pioneer Giorgio Moroder. But this is no tribute album.
