Broken Land Bell is the fourth full-length album from the band, but the first offering of entirely original material. It's a gorgeous culmination from a group coming into their own after years standing their ground in the tough streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The band's name is a nod to an Irish street gang who ruled the lower east side of Manhattan during the 1800s called 'The Whyos.' And the album title alludes to both the origin of the band and the recording setting, as the name "Brooklyn" is derived from the words "Broken Land," used by the first Dutch settlers of New York in the1600s. This is a smart, talented bunch who has tapped into a uniquely American sound that has catapulted them onto the stage with legends.
