Original Release Date: March 28, 2012. Label: Transnational Records. Total Length: 52:31. Swedish folk punks Crash Nomada are back with the new album Atlas Pogo. They’re known for their unique mix of folk and world music charged with tons of electric punk rock energy. The new album has influences from North Africa, Scandinavia, the Middle East and South Eastern Europe. And, of course, massive doses of classic punk rock, some Hip Hop and Reggae. Crash Nomada has sometimes been compared to bands like Mano Negra, The Clash and Gogol Bordello for example. – In addition to our usual hybrid of folk music, punk rock and dance music we have been influenced by the music we listened to a lot in the beginning of the nineties, vocalist Ragnar Bey says. There are lots of noisy Sonic Youth style guitars and heavy dynamic eruptions à la Nirvana. Atlas Pogo conveys a wide array of emotions and intensities. It is an album that works as well on the pop radio as well as in punk squats or on the dance club circuit. There is everything from Scandinavian d-beat noise with Balkan brass to heavy and mighty ballads to groovy desert dance plateaus and saddening beautiful accordion euphoria.
