Artist.........: The A-Bones Album..........: Crash The Party Year...........: 1996 Genre..........: группа достаточно разноплановая. allmusic.com дает следующий список стилей - Rockabilly, Rock & Roll, Garage Bitrate........: 192 Size...........: 64 мб Comment........: Tribute albums abound like so much kudzo these days, but with an album saluting "the wild, wild songs of Benny Joy," the A-Bones take the genre and knock it on its collective ear with this one. The game plan among the band was to take the trusty cassette van tape of Benny Joy rockabilly classics and, at every subsequent A-Bones session, cut at least one Benny Joy song off of said tape. The group's dedication to the flame-throwing spirit of Benny's music ouvre is evident from track one, "Rollin' to the Jukebox Rock" to the set closer -- their debut single -- "Button Nose," also aboard in a chaotic live version. While the 'Bones generally play as if they have a vendetta against melody, their 'big production' version of "She Cried for Me" is the most musical track they've ever comitted to magnetic tape. Miriam Linna's take on "Ittie Bittie Everything" recalls the energy on several Rose Maddox recordings while the maudlin hillbilly mush of "The Star of the Show" shows a side of the band hitherto unexplored. But tracks like the ultra-trebly "Gossip Gossip Gossip," "Wild Wild Lover," "Steady with Betty," and "Come Back" keep the slop quotient at a dangerously high level, which is just the way fans of the band like it. Hands down, the most rocking and classiest A-Bones album to date. Artist.........: The A-Bones Album..........: The Life of Riley Year...........: 1991 Genre..........: Garage, Trash Rock'n'Roll Bitrate........: 128 kb/s Size...........: 41.83 Comment........: Review by Cub Koda The A-Bones were the "band" side of KICKS Magazine/Norton Records folks Billy Miller and Miriam Linna, husband and wife, rocking down the highway of record-collecting life, creating tonal mayhem wherever and whenever they strike. Miriam did time as the original drummer for the Cramps and both of them cut some pretty wild sides with some identical twin guitarists as the Zantees, but the A-Bones sides are another matter entirely. This ain't no rockabilly cover rehash, The A's can write their own pieces of nonsense, not caring if they sound just like the record or not, unless it's sounding like some totally obscure vulgar piece of wax like "Marlene" by the Sonics. But that's the whole point of this band; playing the bejesus out of this stuff, with a true American gum-chewing perspicacity, not some reverential/nostalgic tear rolling down its cheek. With Miller's go-for-broke vocals, Bruce Bennett's drenched in reverb guitar manglings, Marcus the Carcass' zoom bass combining with Linna's simple, kick-ass drumming and the new addition of horn-tootin' fool Lars Espensen, this is a noise combo to be reckoned with, the kind of band that Jon Bon Jovi sees in his nightmares. Artist.........: The A-Bones Album..........: Ears Wide Shut Year...........: 2014 Genre..........: Garage Bitrate........: 320 kbps Size...........: 82 mb
Comment........:
Released: Jun 10, 2014. Label: Norton Records. Billy Miller and Miriam Linna started Norton Records and The A-Bones in the 1980s. In recent years the label suffered (but survived) after Hurricane Sandy’s demolition of their Brooklyn warehouse, which destroyed almost everything bar their vinyl stock, and as such, Ears Wide Shut is the first record by The A-Bones in five years. Recorded live and wild in the rehearsal room on Super Bowl weekend! It includes covers of obscure tracks by artists including Jimmy Dee And The Offbeats.
The band only wrote a couple of the songs, as most are covers, but even on those they put the A-Bones stamp. Like Chuck Berry’s “Tulane” and Billy Garner’s “Little School Boy.” And “Lula Baby” is so overloaded the circuits in our house blew while playing it; ditto with “Luci Baines.” The former is one of the few originals on here while the latter was written by none other than Arthur Lee in his pre-Love band. This is the real deal, folks, not some pointy-toe-shoe crap.
