Few bands in the history of rock & roll were riddled with as many contradictions as the Who. All four members had wildly different personalities, as their notoriously intense live performances demonstrated. The group was a whirlwind of activity, as the wild Keith Moon fell over his drum kit and Pete Townshend leaped into the air with his guitar, spinning his right hand in exaggerated windmills. собственно речь идёт про некого Джимми поклонника группы The High Numbers (одно из названий Who в 1964, до того, как они стали Who)...Вполне нормального такого парня, который горбатится на работе и день и ночь, для того чтобы купить мотороллер, шмотки и колёс( чтобы развеяться) Родители, в конце-концов, его палят,находят таблетки и выгоняют из дома...Джимми едет в Брайтон, чтобы зано прожить золотые дни модов, но находит лишь бывшего главу модов, который работает коридорным...ну и Джимми с горя бросается в лодке в шторм на скалы...
Такого успеха, как у другой рок-оперы The Who - Tommy, у Qadrophenia не было, так как американская публика её напрочь не поняла , потому что движение модов прошло большей частью мимо неё)

Neither time, nor the deaths of founding members, nor claims that they’ll never play together again seem to stop the legendary Who. On 2006’s ‘Endless Wire’, the band’s first official studio full-length since 1982’s ‘It’s Hard’, Pete Townshend is still folding progressive structures and lofty themes into bombastic, arena-ready rock, while Roger Daltrey belts it out as though it were still 1976. The Who’s 2000s-era touring band, including drummer Zak Starkey, bassist Pino Palladino, and keyboardist John Bundrick, lend enough muscle to the musical attack here to recall the Who’s glory days, and a host of studio musicians help flesh out and vary the sound. Surprisingly, all of these elements–Townshend’s songwriting, Daltrey’s impassioned singing, and the band’s tight performances–coalesce to create a remarkably consistent whole. At its best, ‘Endless Wire’ resembles the band circa ‘Who’s Next’ (the synth intro to opener “Fragments,” which directly references “Baba O’Reily,” is a clear tip-off). In addition to nine new songs, the set also includes the ‘Wire & Glass’ EP (a mini rock-opera from Townsend), which has the band rocking with more vitality than they have in decades.

‘The Kids Are Alright’ is the double-length soundtrack to the film of the same name, which chronicled the rise of the Who from their early days as the High Numbers to their evolution into the innovative, influential and wildly successful rock band they became. Many of these songs are heretofore-unreleased recordings taken from live performances, a setting in which the Who were at their explosive best. The record features many of the band’s greatest songs, either the original versions of early hits like “I Can See for Miles,” “I Can’t Explain,” and “Magic Bus” or live versions that capture the magic of the originals as well as the excitement of the Who’s live act. The band’s irreverent exuberance is well-documented here, from their off-the-cuff cheekiness on the Smothers Brothers show (followed by a searing performance of “My Generation” that ends with Keith Moon’s erupting drum kit) to their performance of proto rock opera “A Quick One” at the Rolling Stones’ Rock & Roll Circus.
