Dirty Raunch-A-Billy with the mutated genetics of punk rock and old school metal thrown in for good measure.

The Legendary Hucklebucks were born during the cold Pittsburgh winter of 2001. Their shared lust for "roots music" and rockabilly brought these boys together and got this train-a-rollin'. But make no mistake, brothers and sisters, this ain't your daddy's old school rockabilly- this is 21ST CENTURY RAUNCH & ROLL!! It's updated, hellbent and nasty, beefed up with blue collar attitude and venom.

The Hucklebucks came together as veterans of underground Pittsburgh bands the Ultimatics and Social Outcast. Right from the start, they bastardized versions of old standards from the likes of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.

However, over time as the band reached a post-pubescent stage, they began to develop an original sinister sound. The right amount of cynical snarl is a necessary ingredient. Vocalist Ted Boyko is a hulking hunk of soul and fury, with a voice that could crack the earth. He's got luring charisma that sucks you in, then he pimp-slaps the silly look right off your face. Guitarist Matt Schor is truly one of the city's finest and most smokin'. He casually tears the throat out of his Gretsch hollowbody with a nonchalant smirk, but hold on to your lower half, cuz' it just might drop. Uncle Piddles slams his upright bass with sick abandon and a Cheshire cat smile, part gentle giant but mostly demented madman. Drummer Brian Gault lays the mountain foundation on drums with his steady, hard-swagger style. Stir this toxic mix up and you get dirty, snotty ROCK & ROLL-A-BILLY with the mutated genetics of punk rock and old school metal thrown in for good measure.

The band delivers their unique sound wherever they can, including all the local juke-joints and rock-n-roll dives, as well as shows opening for Lee Rocker, Southern Culture on the Skids, the Twistin' Tarantulas, the Legendary Shack Shakers, and the Cramps. They are willing and able to gig with ANYBODY. They even kicked off the 2003 Pittsburgh Blues festival, and have sonically raided town fairs, wedding receptions, bowling alleys, Fire Halls, VFWs, and one axe-throwing contest in the swamps of Mckeesport.

The Hucklebucks recorded a demo in the spring of 2003, and followed it up with a split disc ROCK'N ROLL PURGATORY label with Satan's Teardrops from Boston. "Rattle All Night Long & Shake You" marks their 1st full length CD. The sound is rooted in rockabilly, country & punk rock. When you get down to it, the Legendary Hucklebucks play no-bullshit, hard-assed, down to earth Rock & Roll. beloved, resistance is futile.

"On records, in smoky dance halls, and on the concert stages of a musically attuned America, a solidly swinging convoy of big and little bands has been hauling a rural-rooted ruckus known as rockabilly from town to town. This fabled movement was first whispered from the mouth of the Mississippi as juke-joint blues began to paddle against the current towards Memphis, where its salacious sound fathered a juvenile delinquent known to history as rock'n'roll.

This crude progeny then set forth, stomping through the crops and cattle of the heartland, picking up an Appalachian swagger borne of Kentucky moonshine and West Virginia coal mines, before arriving in its rustbelt destination of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. But this story traces just one of the three tributaries that meet in the Iron City to forge something hitherto unheard of in the annals of Allegheny punk and Monongahela metal. If you have ever considered the transmigration of soul across state lines, or that spark of heat that ignites the imagination when genres collide, then the fusion generated by the Legendary Hucklebucks is sure to cause a nuclear reaction at your very core.

As a band menacing with its increasing radio-activity, their constituent particles have been reconfigured from base elements into this subversively prolific magnum opus that you are now holding in your contaminated hands. From the Big Banging of parallel universes in a rowdy bout of cosmological coitus comes the advent of a musical masterpiece; one played with just the right amount of explosive appeal for the demanding residents of this Atomic Age."

Original Release Date: May 2, 2015. Label: Brain Drain Records. Total Length: 27:33. Living, more or less, up to the potentially overblown self-description of "a freight train from hell," the band's latest release delivers a collection of songs which span country, psychobilly, heavy metal and good-old-fashioned rock 'n' roll. If that sounds like a lot, know that — 10 years in — the Hucklebucks have developed quite a talent for subtle genre-blending, even if that's just about the only subtle thing about them. The songwriting has a cohesive feel, and the individual tracks, though diverse, hang together. Fans of Reverend Horton Heat or Hank III or Danzig — or, weirdly enough, the Doors — will likely find something to enjoy here. It may not be a reinvention of the pompadour, but, dang, it's a lot of fun. http://twentyredmetalnails.blogspot....hillbilly.html
