Keith Hudson (1946 – 1984) was an enigmatic singer and songwriter who made a major impact in music with his unique brand of reggae. Tuff Gong Encounter is the unreleased album that Hudson recorded with members of The Wailers in 1984. The ses-sion includes Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett, Carlton Barrett, Tyrone Downie and Junior Marvin. Mixing duties and dubs performed by Lloyd "Prince Jammy’ James.

The original 1974 release of Keith Hudson's 'Pick A Dub' showcased the enduring strength and pivotal importance of the development of reggae music. Keith Hudson's complete mastery of the genre and the unqualified praise that followed its release was fully justified. The album's austere sonic qualities are awe inspiring, the superb rhythms are given full rein, unencumbered by extra effects and studio trickery. This new deluxe reissue is as mesmerising now as it was over forty years ago. The double LP and CD sets both contain bonus tracks featuring eight vocal cuts of the featured dubs, including two previously unreleased tracks. First released in the UK by Tottenham-based Atra Records in 1974, The Black Breast Has Produced Her Best Flesh of My Skin Blood By Blood has long been considered one of the edgiest roots albums of the period and a must-have for serious reggae collectors. The album resulted in its creator, the sadly departed Keith Hudson, being dubbed "the dark prince of reggae". Listening back to this welcome CD reissue - the album's first appearance on the format for 17 years - it's easy to see why. For starters, the lyrical content is highly politically charged and righteous, while Hudson's weighty musical arrangements are far more trippy, hazy and dimly lit than those found on most roots reggae records of the period.
