имхо,конечно,но по-моему самая интересная пластинка Link Wray: ранние рокабильные эксперименты, брательник с кошачьей кличкой Lucky (Ray Vernon -он же ),гитарные сессии ... один Marvin Rainwater чего стоит!

Artist.........: Link Wray & The Wraymen
Album..........: Walkin' With Link
Year...........: 1992
Bitrate........: 320 kbps (спектры плохие)
Size...........: 100 mb
Comment........:
Original Release Date: May 12, 1992. Label: Epic / Legacy. After cutting the anthemic instrumental "Rumble" for Cadence Records, Link took his follow-up "Rawhide" over to Epic Records, and this 20-track compilation is the most excellent distillation of his tenure at the label. The honchos at Columbia were trying their level best to tame Link down for mass consumption (Duane Eddy twanged for White teenage America; Link Wray played for hoods). Fortunately here we're spared having to hear "seemed like a good idea at the time" atrocities like "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" and "Clare De Lune" in favor of 20 tracks of solid rockin' mayhem. Casual fans who only think of Wray as a wild-ass guitarist (his tone on the title track is pure, detuned, hacking filth) will be very surprised to find that rebel nature also applies to his vocal cords on such raucous outings as Jimmy Reed's "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby" (in two different takes here), Ray Charles' "Mary Anne," and the previously unissued rocker "Oh Babe Be Mine." This compilation may lack some of the big hits that a best-of collection would have to offer (thus denying it first-purchase status), but as another essential piece in building the perfect Link Wray (or rock & roll guitar gods) collection, one would be very hard-pressed to imagine it not residing in the pile. Link at his best, and that's just about as wild and crazy as original rock & roll guitar gets.

Artist.........: Link Wray
Album..........: Missing Links Volume 4 - Streets Of Chicago
Year...........: 1997
Bitrate........: 320 kbps
Size...........: 118 mb
Comment........:
Label: Norton Records. Streets Of Chicago, the final entry in this superlative four volume set, holds the singular distinction of being the only one that wasn't originally issued on vinyl. But as a capper to the set, its existence sends it out on a loud, high note, indeed. The previously unissued title opus (16 of the 17 tracks collected here are seeing issuance for the first time here) is quite simply one of the finest Link Wray originals ever, equally on a par with his better known instrumentals, full of swagger, menace and another classic proto-metal lick. Other highlights include blistering guitar work on "Street Fighter" and live versions of "Soul Train," "Ace Of Spades," and a six minute plus rendition of "Drown In My Own Tears" where Link's screams and falsetto shrieking cuts through the badly damaged, low-fi recording with alarming clarity. Nothing on here is less than classic, with some of the selections bordering on essential.

The final volume of Norton’s essential Missing Links series eschews the chronological coherence of earlier volumes for a grab-bag approach that, rather than focusing on Wray’s rare independent releases, is comprised entirely of previously unreleased live recordings and studio demos from his early ‘60s prime. While all volumes of the Missing Links set are essential Streets of Chicago is easily the most consistent, and acts as something of an alternate greatest hits. It includes a fearsome early demo of Wray’s immortal “Rumble” that arguably bests the officially released version for sheer menace, and a host of rare live tracks that find Wray and his brothers abandoning all notions of restraint on a set of classic rock ‘n’ roll covers ranging from a damaged take on Gene Vincent’s “Be-Bop-A-Lula” to an electrifying, and shockingly lo-fi take on “Lawdy Miss Clawdy.” For the uninitiated looking for an understanding of Wray and his work that goes beyond the familiar Epic material, the incendiary, hit-filled Streets of Chicago is an ideal starting point.
